“Caring and Sharing”

Women Organized Resources for Liberia’s Development, Inc. (WORLD, Inc.) was established in September 1990 in Baltimore, Maryland, under the leadership of Mrs. Rachel Pearce Marshall. The organization is a charitable, educational, nonprofit entity and is recognized as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. WORLD, Inc. is dedicated to providing resources that support healthcare, social services, economic sustainability, and the education of children. The organization operates under the core principles of commitment, accountability, and the implementation of diverse strategies. Its guiding motto is “Caring and Sharing.”

W.O.R.L.D., Inc. hosts an annual membership meeting to review accomplishments from the previous year and to establish goals for the year ahead. The organization also holds a memorial service honoring those who lost their lives during the civil unrest in Liberia. Over the years, key fundraising and community engagement initiatives have included an Ebola awareness campaign and medical supply drive, annual celebrations recognizing the United Nations Day of the African Child, organized cultural outings such as a trip to New York to attend the play “Eclipse,” and hosting annual Christmas celebrations for children in Liberia.

The organization has established partnerships with several institutions, including the Liberian Association of Maryland, the Sub-Saharan African Development Association, Alliant International University, Center Stage, the Church of the Nativity - Cedarcroft, as well as various colleges and churches throughout the region.

Through its sustained efforts and partnerships, WORLD, Inc. remains committed to improving lives and fostering long-term development in Liberia and surrounding communities.
